An Extracted Tooth Might Be Replaced by a Dental Bridge

Posted .

Some cases of tooth decay and dental trauma can harm the root of a tooth so badly that a dentist’s only treatment option is to perform a total extraction. Once all remnants of the tooth have been removed from the socket, your gums will be sutured to help them heal.

When you are ready, you should consider scheduling an appointment with your contracted dentist. After examining the gums and available oral structure, your dentist will help you understand your dental restoration options.

In some of these cases you may choose to have the tooth replaced by a dental bridge. It is essentially a replacement tooth that has been completely fused with a dental crown on each end.

The treatment process calls for out dentist to create a pair of abutments by removing the tooth enamel layers from the neighboring teeth.

When your dental bridge is ready, you will need to return to ADC Dental & Denture Clinic Inc. for a second appointment where it will be cemented onto the two anchoring abutments. Once this is done it will complete the treatment process to restore the basic function of your previously extracted tooth.
