After you’ve restored your smile with a dental implant, it’s important to fully and completely recover. It’s also important to take good care of your dental implant so it will last for a long amount of time. If you need help knowing how to care for your new restoration, we are happy to help you by encouraging you to do the following things:

· Brush: Brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes each time. Do so with a soft-bristled toothbrush and with fluoride toothpaste. Make sure you are gentle as you brush and do your best to thoroughly scrub each tooth, especially your implant.
· Floss: We strongly recommend that you floss your smile at least once a day. Flossing is a great technique that properly cleans the cracks and crevices of your smile. So, use your favorite flossing product and do your best to free any food particles that are stuck between your teeth. Remember to use a clean section of floss as you move from tooth to tooth.
· Attend your dental checkups: Make sure you visit your dentist every six months for a dental cleaning and checkup. Your dentist and hygienist will deeply clean your smile and will check on the implant. This is a great way to keep your restoration in tip-top shape as well as prevent tooth decay and gum disease.

As long as you brush twice a day, floss once a day, and attend your dental checkups every six months, you are on the right track and your implant will last for years to come. Caring for your implant is simpler than you think, and it can be done all while caring for the other teeth in your smile.
